roche diagnostics / industrial design standardization & system development

 

f/p design partnered with roche diagnostics on the development of a comprehensive industrial design system, aimed at creating consistency, efficiency, and recognisability across a wide range of diagnostic products and platforms.

 

the project began with an in-depth analysis of roche’s existing product portfolio, combined with stakeholder interviews and cross-functional collaboration with design and engineering teams. this phase focused on identifying gaps, redundancies, and opportunities to simplify and harmonise the current design landscape.

based on these insights, f/p design developed the id standard 2.0, a structured set of design principles, guidelines, and modular templates that bridge industrial design and mechanical engineering. this system enables faster development processes, clearer implementation, and a more cohesive product experience across categories.

 

in addition, the collaboration included the creation of practical tools and documentation, as well as close alignment with roche’s internal teams, ensuring that the new design system can be effectively adopted, scaled, and integrated into future product development.
